What is a Second?
In general, Seconds have a “look” or “feel” that is not in line with First Quality. It will have one or more of the following imperfections: discoloration or wide variation in the handle dye, imperfect jigging, small cracks or fractures near pins, minor blade/bolster/shield imperfections like scratches or poor polish, minor blade wobble, weak or “mushy” blade stops, light pull between stops, poor blade centering (without rub), minor gapping in liners or between handle material and liners, and rough or unfinished edges or transition. Imperfections vary widely and you may or may not be able to find the imperfection that we found in QC.
The RoseCraft Blades Cane Creek Jack is a coffin coke bottle pattern inspired by a Joseph Allen & Sons’ NON-XLL pattern 2014. This one-bladed slip joint features a 2.7″ D2 clip point blade with heavy swedging, a half stop, and a brushed satin finish. The covers are multi-colored, layered G10 with brushed steel bolsters, steel liners, and nickel silver pins. The rear bolster on the show side features the Locking RC logo etch. It’s 3.5″ closed, 6.2″ overall, and weighs just 2.2oz. Designed by Andy Armstrong.
