What is a Second?
In general, Seconds have a “look” or “feel” that is not in line with First Quality. It will have one or more of the following imperfections: discoloration or wide variation in the handle dye, imperfect jigging, small cracks or fractures near pins, minor blade/bolster/shield imperfections like scratches or poor polish, minor blade wobble, weak or “mushy” blade stops, light pull between stops, poor blade centering (without rub), minor gapping in liners or between handle material and liners, and rough or unfinished edges or transition. Imperfections vary widely and you may or may not be able to find the imperfection that we found in QC.
The RoseCraft Blades Beaver Creek Barlow features a 2.9″ D2 Sheepsfoot blade with a brushed satin finish. It’s 2.7mm thick and has a half stop. The one-bladed traditional slip joint features brushed steel bolsters with the Locking ‘RC’ mark and steel liners. The covers are genuine Smoky Gray Bone. It’s 3.5″ closed, 6.4″ overall, and weighs 2.9oz. Designed by Andy Armstrong.
Note: Bone is a natural material and each handle will hold dye differently. While your knife will look similar to the knife in the images, it will vary based on the makeup of the genuine bone in your knife.
