What is a Second?
In general, Seconds have a “look” or “feel” that is not in line with First Quality. It will have one or more of the following imperfections: discoloration or wide variation in the handle dye, imperfect jigging, small cracks or fractures near pins, minor blade/bolster/shield imperfections like scratches or poor polish, minor blade wobble, weak or “mushy” blade stops, light pull between stops, poor blade centering (without rub), minor gapping in liners or between handle material and liners, and rough or unfinished edges or transition. Imperfections vary widely and you may or may not be able to find the imperfection that we found in QC.
The RoseCraft Blades Stinking Creek Sowbelly RCT023-BSW is a one-bladed jack that features a 2.7″ D2 modified clip point blade with a brushed satin finish, a half stop, and heavy swedging. It has genuine black sandalwood covers with brushed stainless steel bolsters, liners, and the new RoseCraft “Clubs” shield. It’s 3.875″ closed, 6.6″ overall and weighs 3oz. This is an original pattern designed by Andy Armstrong.
A note about RoseCraft’s wood handles: Wood is a natural material with natural grain. The pictures of this product show several examples of grain that can be found in this material. No two knives are the same, and while your knife will fall into the family of the variations show, it will be different.
